Grizzly Bear - All We Ask

Just dug up a review of my most recent Poetic Journey design featured in the Creative Writing 2008 through 2009 Yearly Review. Check it!

The release reception was held on April 28. Poets were on hand to read their work and designers talked about their own creative decisions, as the posters were projected on a screen behind the podium. One of the most impressive pieces was Amber West’s “Jellyfish, Mandalay Bay,” accompanied by the design of Jay Quercia. In the poem, the ebb and flow of a jellyfish in a tank is the primary image the audience is drawn to, and this is exactly the focus in the graphic design of the poem. With flowing letters, Quercia captured what jellyfish in a tank would look like both in front of the glass and behind it.

Hey everybody. So updates on the site have been extremely sparse, but things have been extremely eventful. I graduated last week and am off to start a short grad study through the School of Visual Arts in Italy. Insanely excited to experience the culture. Ive booked my stay a bit longer than the length of the classes so I’ll be traveling around Europe, most likely headed for Amsterdam and then to London to catch my flight back to the states. I will be setting up a vlog (brutal) and posting videos with my Sanyo Xacti as I travel the countryside so hopefully there will be some pretty gorgeous stuff up here for everyone to check out within the coming weeks. I will attempt to post a video per day while I’m overseas, although I can’t make any promises as Internet may or may not be sparse.

Also, as you can see the site got a bit of an update. Slightly modified layout due to my boredom with the last one. Still keeping it simple as I believe it should ultimately serve as a frame to display my works, thoughts, etc. Over the next couple of days (hopefully) I’ll be updating with all the new work I’ve gotten back, so there should be plenty of goodies for eyes to feast upon. Until then, buhbye. :)

Finally, a place to record my daily thoughts. The first post of the site here, moreso just to test and make sure everything is in working order. Everything is coming along nicely. It seems the interface is 90% complete. Now its time to begin uploading works. I’ve already photographed and documented most of those I wish to put up. Continue to check back throughout the next couple of weeks for updates and uploads and the such.
